Our Story

Sun Salutations is a yoga greeting card company that supports the diversity of the yoga community, which we need now more than ever. The images on the greeting cards highlight yogis of various sizes, physical abilities, colors, ages, and genders. Some of the communities featured include the military, first responders, amputees, cancer survivors, and people of color. These beautiful cards can be used at this time of social distancing to connect and inspire the yoga community, and beyond.

The founder combined two of her passions – yoga and greeting cards – and started this company in her barracks room in the middle of Afghanistan. Melanie was living and working at a military base at the time and was also a volunteer yoga instructor. She taught yoga to military service members and civilians several times a week for a year. She loved it so much she decided to get certified in yoga; four months later she was diagnosed with breast cancer. As a teacher and student of yoga, Melanie knows first-hand how much yoga heals. She also understands the importance of community.

From the beginning, Sun Salutations has always wanted to give back. Five percent of the company’s profits will be donated to organizations that help connect yoga with diverse communities that are in particular need of the benefits of yoga. The organization that will receive these donations is Black Boys Om.

Thank you for your support of a woman-owned, BIPOC small business. These are so much more than greeting cards, and we’re just getting started!
